Frequency and Repetition Controls

Promoted measures and optimizes how frequently each native ad is shown to each user, avoiding needless repetition while also strategically re-promoting ads. This both achieves the business goals of the marketplace and optimizes advertisers' budgets.

Promoted implements repetition rules using Blender rules on top of our streaming data features that are also used to power our real-time ML and AI system. Promoted's real-time streaming system tracks how frequently an item is shown, clicked, and purchased in different contexts and to different users. Here are some examples of frequency rules:

  • An ad can only be shown at most three times to the same user
  • An ad can only be clicked once by the same user in one day
  • Never show an ad to a user who has already purchased that item
  • ...many other possibilities, according to your specific platform!

If you can imagine a frequency or repetition rule, Promoted can implement it for you.
