Frequency and Repetition Controls

Promoted measures and optimizes how frequently each native ad is shown to each user, avoiding needless repetition while also strategically re-promoting ads. This both achieves the business goals of the marketplace and optimizes advertisers' budgets.

Promoted implements repetition rules using Blender rules on top of our streaming data features that are also used to power our real-time ML and AI system. Promoted's real time streaming system tracks how frequently an item is shown, clicked, and purchased in different contexts and to different users. For example, you can create a frequency rule that an ad can only been shown at most three times or clicked once by the same user in one day. Or, you create a rule to never show an ad to a user who has already purchased that item.
